Water, Climate Change and the Southwest by Darren McCollum

  • Virtual (on Zoom) (map)

Ever since seeing my first snowflake at eight years old I’ve been fascinated by the weather. I have a Master’s Degree in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma and worked at the National Severe Storms Laboratory specifically researching the Arizona monsoon season. I was hired by the National Weather Service in 1994 and worked in Tucson for a number of years before moving to Flagstaff and becoming a Lead Meteorologist. While my professional focus is weather forecasting climate change has become a major area of interest as the threats to our planet and us humans continue to increase.
