Risks to Arizona Water Supply from Fracking

NAZCCA and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) will feature a presentation and discussion by Dr. Kevin Gibson with "Protect Our Water Arizona" who will discuss the risk to water supplies from fracking in Northern Arizona and Statewide. This event is free and open to the public.

This presentation will include explanations of what fracking is, and the different fracking techniques and various terminology used in the mining industry. Dr. Gibson identifies targeted geographic locations, land use, and their relationship to aquifers. Other impacts of fracking that will also be covered include implications on public health, earthquakes, property values and jobs.

Dr. Kevin Gibson is a retired Mining Engineer living in Snowflake, Arizona.
He has a BS.c and a Ph.D from the Department of Mining Engineering, Nottingham University, UK. He has worked in coal mining in the UK, copper mining in Australia, Gold mining in South Africa and the last 20 years of his career were spent working for Saudi Aramco the worlds largest oil company.
